Ministries Jeffrey teachingThe purpose of ministry is to serve the body of Christ with love and diligence. Every ministry should further the work of edifying the body of Christ by promoting the unity of the faith and the knowledge of Christ through the open display of love and grace. Whether direct ministry of teaching and providing counseling or a practical ministry like providing food or clothes to the needy; each should focus on sharing the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. As we strengthen the body of Christ or evangelize the lost through our ministries; we all grow and become more grounded in our faith and become more effective in the services of Christ.

With that said, it is our belief that all christians should be engaged in the service of the Lord in both their everyday lives, as well as within the congregation. A christian who does not serve has missed the point of being filled with the Spirit. The Holy Spirit empowers us to become witnesses and servants of Jesus our Lord.

"And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head - Christ - from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love."

Ephesians 4:11-16
