You’re Following Someone. Is It Jesus?

In this verse-by-verse teaching through Mark 1:16–20, titled “You’re Following Someone. Is It Jesus?”, we watch Jesus call Simon, Andrew, James, and John away from their fishing boats with two words: “Follow Me.”

We all follow someone or something. The people we watch, the trends we keep up with, and the approval we seek can shape the direction of our lives. Jesus calls His disciples to trust Him enough to go where He leads, even when that means leaving something behind.

Jesus also promises, “I will make you become fishers of men.” He calls ordinary people and changes them as they follow Him. The disciples gave up real things, but what they gained in Jesus was greater.

Who or what is leading you? And when Jesus calls you to follow Him, what are you afraid you might have to leave behind?
